Electronic workshops are an alternative way to receive clock hour training credit to meet licensing requirements or to get more information about a specific topic of interest. These workshops were designed for individuals who have considerable experience in the field and whose job responsibilities or location make attending regular workshops and other training difficult at times.

Each electronic workshop will include material to read, questions to stimulate reflective thinking, activities and or projects that will enable you to apply the information to address a specific need in your program. Then the project and a test review will be submitted for credit.

The workshops are also designed for the individual who has a specific need and who needs information on the topic right away. Let us know of any additional topics that interest you and we will develop them.

Am I Ready for an Electronic Workshop?

Before registering for an electronic workshop, ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Do I have adequate computer skills? You will need access to a computer with Windows and an Internet connection. You will need basic word processing, email, and Internet searching skills. If you feel your experience with computers is weak, arrange for someone to be available to help you with the computer tasks.
  2. Am I self-motivated? Since these workshops rely on you to work individually at your own pace, be sure that you can discipline yourself to complete the tasks without reminders. If you need the structure of an external class time, then a regular workshop may suit you best.
  3. Am I an independent learner? If you work well by yourself (or if several of you take a workshop together and share ideas) then this option may work well for you.
  4. Do I have enough experience and training to benefit from advanced level material? If you're just starting in early childhood, then you may benefit more from other types of training. Electronic workshops are developed with the assumption that you are familiar with typical requirements, schedules, equipment, room arrangement, etc.
